Jazz cruise to rare victory over Portland, 141-99

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 Sports) – In an extremely difficult rebuilding year, the Utah Jazz will enjoy nights like this.

John Collins scored 20 points, Keyonte George had 17 and the Utah Jazz ended a five-game losing streak with a 141-99 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night.

Walker Kessler scored 13 points, 17 rebounds and five blocks for the Jazz in just his fifth win of the season. Nine Jazz players scored in double figures.

Jerami Grant scored 19 points for Portland in its third straight loss. The Blazers trailed by 46 points and were booed by the home fans.

Jazz committed 29 turnovers in a 133-106 loss to OKC

The Jazz gained a lead of 38:20. The Blazers were hurt early in the game when Toumani Camara limped off the field with a right foot injury and did not return.

The Jazz led 67-44 at halftime, their largest halftime lead of the season, and increased the lead to 30 points at 76-46 in the third quarter. All of Utah’s starters were in double figures at this point.

Striker Lauri Markkanen suffered a late loss due to a lower back injury. He missed three games early in the season because of the same problem. Svi Mykhailiuk started in his place and scored 13 points.

Collin Sexton passed to Collins for a dunk that gave the Jazz a 90-59 lead in the third quarter and put them on the bench. Sexton finished the game with 16 points for the Jazz, who shot 55.2 percent from the field.

Jazz fell just short against the Lakers, 105-104

The Jazz defense forced 22 turnovers in Portland as Utah outrebounded the Blazers 61-34.

The Jazz are back in action Sunday night in Sacramento.
