Jean Smart wins the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a TV Comedy for Hacks

Jean Smart did it again, winning best actress in a TV comedy/musical at the Golden Globes on Sunday night. This is the second time she has won in this category, this time for the third season of “Hacks.” She portrays the comedian Deborah Vance in the series.

“I never thought I would be so happy to be called a hacker,” Smart said as she accepted her trophy at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. She then thanked HBO Max, the show’s producers and the cast, including co-star Hannah Einbinder. “Without Ava, there would be no Deborah.”

She then noted that the show is “midway through season four and we’re still having fun.”

Smart previously won the Best Actress Emmy for her portrayal of Deborah Vance in Season 1. She quipped at the time: “It’s very humbling, it really is. And I appreciate that because I just don’t get enough attention. I’m serious.”

The series is also nominated for a Golden Globe for best TV comedy and Smart’s co-star Hannah Einbinder is nominated for supporting actress.

Also in the category were nominees Kristen Bell from “Nobody Wants This,” Quinta Brunson from “Abbott Elementary,” Ayo Edebiri from “The Bear,” Selena Gomez from “Only Murders in the Building” and Kathryn Hahn from “Agatha All Along.” ” represent.
