Jeff Bezos sets the record straight.

The 60-year-old Amazon founder denied rumors that he would marry Lauren Sánchez in a lavish ceremony just before Christmas in a social media post shared on Sunday, December 22nd.

Bezos responded to a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) that contained information found in a recent article The New York Post Article, which quoted a report from The Daily Mailwho claimed that he and his fiancée, 55, would have a $600 million wedding on Saturday, December 28, in Aspen, Colorado.

The businessman continued: “The old adage ‘don’t believe everything you read’ is even more true today than ever before.”

Bezos added: “Now lies can spread around the world before the truth gets out of hand. So be careful, people, and don’t be gullible.”

Bezos then took issue with publications that had published hoaxes about his wedding, writing, “It will be interesting to see if all the media outlets that have ‘covered’ and re-reported on this issue make a correction when it comes.” and goes and doesn’t happen.” ”

PEOPLE confirmed that Bezos and Sánchez were dating in January 2019 and the couple got engaged in May 2023.

Bezos shares four children – three sons and a daughter – with ex-wife MacKenzie Scott, while Sánchez shares son Nikko with ex Tony Gonzalez and children Evan and Ella with ex-husband Patrick Whitesell.

During an appearance in November at the Today show, Sánchez talked about gathering inspiration for her upcoming wedding.

“I have to say, I have Pinterest,” she said. “I’m like any other bride, so I have a Pinterest board.”
