“It’s just a wild dream. But I will say this: The fact that she comes to give us a week of her time, she could do anything, is a testament to the show we’ve built. So I’m beyond that.” I’m thrilled. “I can’t wait,” Bush Hager added. “We’ve never seen Scarlett Johansson host a daytime show before!”

During the Jan. 7 broadcast, Bush Hager teased that the show had “so many fun things” planned with Johansson.

“First of all, you guys had a great click. She’s a great person,” Kotb said. “And immediately, I remember when she was here, you said, ‘Can she do that?’ You know when you know someone is going to be good at something?”

“I think we’re going to have a lot of fun,” Bush Hager added.

Today with Jenna & Friends starts on January 13th, after Hoda Kotb’s last day on January 10th. Bush Hager announced on the Jan. 6 broadcast that a rotating list of celebrity guests would step in to fill the empty slot before Johansson takes over. Stars include Taraji P. Henson, Eva Longoria and Keke Palmer.

“The cool thing about it is that it really feels like we’re setting up chairs for all different types of people,” says Bush Hager. “Yes, we have actors, but we also have comedians and people in the media. And I think that’s really what we’re hoping for: a complete representation of who watches our show and something for every viewer.”

Still, with all the excitement that comes with the start of a new “era” in the fourth hour TodayBush Hager would be remiss if she didn’t admit that it all feels particularly “bittersweet,” too.

“I adore Hoda. She is the best partner. “She’s been the most generous partner and we’re really great friends, so the thought of her not being here is almost bearable,” says Bush Hager.

“Of course, I’ve had months to deal with this, although I can’t promise that our final Hoda-bration won’t be filled with tears. “I’m sure it’s just because I can’t help it,” says Bush Hager. “I’m excited and nervous and thrilled, and I’m going to miss Hoda very, very much too.”
