Jessica Gunning narrowly avoided a wardrobe malfunction at the 2025 Golden Globes!

Gunning, 38, won the award for best performance by a female actress in a supporting role on television on Sunday, January 5, for her role in Baby reindeer. She received the award from Anthony Ramos and Kathy Bates, whose performance in misery inspired Gunning’s character in the Netflix series.

After accepting the statue, Gunning joked that he almost fell while walking on stage.

“I almost stumbled,” Gunning said at the start of her acceptance speech. “Then you would have seen my Golden Globes.”

Gunning also compared the feeling of winning to getting a hamster as a Christmas present as a child.

“This is an absolute honor,” Gunning said. “Honestly…there’s a video of me when I was little, over 8 years old, when my parents gave me a hamster for Christmas and they took it out in this trash bag – it wasn’t in a cage, just a trash bag. And I have a very Yorkshire accent and I kept saying, ‘I can’t believe this is happening to me.'”

She continued, “And I realized that morning that this has been kind of the soundtrack for the last year since then.” Baby reindeer came out. I can’t believe any of this is happening to me. I just want to thank everyone who was able to accompany me on this journey.”

Gunning went on to thank her agent and Baby reindeer Creator and co-star Richard Gadd. “Baby reindeer “I can’t believe this is happening to me, and I know I wouldn’t do it as an eight-year-old either.”

After her win, Gunning thought about accepting her award from Bates.

“She’s one of my idols,” Gunning told PEOPLE. “It’s amazing.”

Gunning rose to fame in the role of Martha, the stalker of Richard Gadd’s Donny Baby reindeer. This is her first Golden Globe nomination after winning her first Emmy for the role in September.

“I honestly feel like I’m going to wake up at any moment, the whole thing has been a dream,” Gunning said while accepting the honor. “I am so incredibly proud to be a part of it Baby reindeer… I’ve tried so many times to put into words what I’m working on Baby reindeer meant to me and I fail every time.”

“Thank you for trusting me to be your Martha,” she later added. “I will never forget her or you or that. It really means a lot.”

Baby reindeer was also nominated for best limited television series, anthology series or television film, and Gadd received a nomination for best performance by a male actor at this year’s Golden Globes.

This year’s category was full of talent like Liza Colón-Zayas The bear, Hannah Einbinder for hacks, Dakota Fanning for Ripley, Allison Janney for The diplomat and Kali rice for True Detective: Night Country rounded off the nominations.

Colón-Zayas, 52, portrayed the role of Tina Marrero on the hit FX series about a Chicago restaurant and its diverse kitchen staff. This is her first-ever Golden Globe nomination and she followed it up with another major first when she took home her first Emmy win for the same role in September 2024.

“Many thanks to my husband David Zayas. He told me to write a speech and I didn’t because I didn’t think it was possible,” she said as she accepted the Emmy. “How could I have believed that?” It’s possible to be in the presence of Meryl Streep and Carol Burnett and Janelle and Sheryl Lee Ralph. I love you all, I adore you from the bottom of my heart.

The bear had the most Golden Globe nominations this year, landing in five different television categories, including best musical or comedy television series. Colón-Zayas’ co-stars Ayo Edebiri, Jeremy Allen White and Ebon Moss-Bachrach also received nominations for their roles on the show.

Einbinder, 29, plays the lead role in the Max series hacks, as Ava Daniels, an aspiring writer who is hired to revive the career of Deborah Vance (Jean Smart), an out-of-touch and outdated comedian. The third season of the drama ended airing in May 2024 and just a day after the finale, the fourth season was announced.

This is the third Golden Globe nomination for Einbinder, who was previously nominated for the same role in 2022 and 2023. In October, her mother, actress Laraine Newman, told PEOPLE how amazed she was at her daughter’s rise in comedy.

“I’m a real, proud mother,” she said, recalling the moment her daughter revealed she wanted to pursue acting. “It was very late. I mean, she was an athlete and then went to Chapman to write broadcast journalism and then moved on to writing for television. And the kids said, “You’re funny, why don’t you join the improv group?” And so at one point she tearfully confessed the dirty secret to me: ‘I want to be an actress.'”

Hacks was also nominated for Best Musical or Comedy Television Series at the 2025 Golden Globes, and Smart won the nomination for Best Performance by a Female Actress in a Musical or Comedy Television Series.

This is the 30-year-old Fanning’s first Golden Globe nomination, which she received for her role in The Movie Ripley as Marge Sherwood. The Netflix thriller follows con artist Tom Ripley (Andrew Scott) after he is hired by a wealthy benefactor to convince his vagabond son Dickie Greenleaf (Johnny Flynn) to return home from Italy. Fanning plays Dickie’s beautiful – and suspicious – girlfriend.

Fanning’s co-star Scott was also nominated for the lead role Ripley, and the show was also nominated for Best Limited Television Series, Anthology Series or Television Movie.

In September, she made history when she became the first local woman to be nominated for an acting Emmy for the same role.

In March, Reis discussed the similarities between her and her character, who creator Issa López made an Alaskan after learning that rural Alaska was largely populated by Iñupiaq people.

“Issa took her time and really composed and created this character with so much care and so much time, and she was pretty much her stubborn little scorpion self,” she said, joking, “Basically, I had to meet her where she was she was.” .”

True detective was also nominated for Best Limited Television Series, Anthology Series or Television Movie at the 2025 Golden Globes, and Foster received a nomination for Best Performance by a Female Actress in the Series.
