Former Disney Channel star Josie Totah has dismissed dating speculation after posting a steamy snap with co-star Karan Brar.

Totah, 23, who came out as “trans” in 2018, made headlines with a PDA-filled TikTok video featuring her former wife Jessie Co-star Brar, 25, came from behind and wrapped his arms around Totah’s waist before reaching him with a smooch.

Shortly after the PDA-filled snap went viral, Totah posted another video in which he repeatedly clarified that “it was a joke.”

“We’re two platonic best friends who danced a little too close to the sun,” Totah wrote in the caption of the second video.

Brar also insisted the stunt was just a joke, writing in a post on his Instagram Stories: “It was a joke (crying emoji)” as he said the friends “didn’t mean to bother the internet” .

Fans couldn’t quite understand the contradictory gestures. One said in the comments: “That didn’t seem like a joke,” and another replied: “Well you can’t joke like that because now I’m disappointed.”

Totah joined Jessie 2013 as Stuart Wooten, who had a crush on Skai Jackson’s character Zuri.

Brar played Ravi, one of Zuri’s three siblings who were cared for by babysitter Jessie (starring Debby Ryan) in the Debby Ryan-led series from 2011 to 2015.
