JK Dobbins signed a one-year deal with the LA Chargers in the 2024 offseason and has proven that he is still one of the most dynamic running backs in the league. Dobbins’ success in Los Angeles was one of the league’s best stories this season after everything the running back has been through in his career.

Unfortunately, the threat of injury hit Dobbins again on Monday night against his former team. After a strong first half against the Baltimore Ravens, Dobbins was seen heading to the locker room early in the first half.

The broadcast revealed it was a knee injury suffered by Dobbins, who was seen on the sidelines wearing a large brace. Dobbins did not return to the game and in his press conference after the loss, head coach Jim Harbaugh gave no real update.

Those who have followed the Chargers closely this season are not surprised by this reaction. Harbaugh has been quiet about his injury status all season. Harbaugh would never reveal any real information after the tough prime-time loss to an AFC contender.

That doesn’t mean fans weren’t optimistic about an update surrounding Dobbins. If anything, fans were looking for copy, as Dobbins was the engine of the Chargers’ offense. This offense just isn’t the same without Dobbins. The Chargers proved that against the Ravens.

With a short week after playing Monday Night Football It wouldn’t be surprising if the Chargers err on the side of caution and rest Dobbins in Week 13 against the Atlanta Falcons. Finally, the Chargers have another primetime game against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 14 and Dobbins will be needed.

However, this is assuming Dobbins’ injury is minor and he can get back to his feet. Given his injury history, one can certainly expect the worst. And at this point in the season, any two-month injury would effectively end Dobbins’ comeback season.
