Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler is now open to a trade to the Phoenix Suns, who join the Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets as teams the six-time All-Star wants to play for, as his current roster is open to offers hears.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on it, citing comments Butler’s agent Bernie Lee allegedly made in “league circles.”

Lee quickly called out Charania after his latest report on Butler:

Butler, 35, has one Player option worth $52.4 million in the 2025-26 season that he can forgo entering free agency next offseason. He is currently averaging 19.0 points on 55.7 percent shooting, 5.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 17 starts.

Charania previously reported on Tuesday that the Heat might be moving Butler (and that Butler might be interested in heading to the right destination).

“The Heat are open to listening to offers for Butler and making a deal if the proposal is right,” league sources told ESPN, and Butler’s agent Bernie Lee has suggested in league circles that Butler is open to targets like two of Texas Open teams (Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks) and the Golden State Warriors.”

Butler is in his sixth season with the Heat after signing with Miami as a free agent in 2019. He was undoubtedly a huge success in Miami and helped lead the team en route to two Eastern Conference titles.

The Heat still remain competitive at 12-10, which is currently good enough for fifth place in the Eastern Conference. It’s entirely possible that the Heat can deny this current core another run, even though the defending NBA champion Boston Celtics and the 21-4 Cleveland Cavaliers currently look like the clear frontrunners in the East.

Or they can trade Butler and hope for a good return, hoping not to lose him for nothing next summer if he declines his player option.

However, regarding the reports, Lee has made it clear that “this is all made up.” So the money here would be based on Butler staying with Miami as the team looks to continue its recent run of success.

Their three-game winning streak most recently included a 122-113 home win against the Cavs, who currently have the best win-loss record in the league. Confidence will undoubtedly be high in Miami with Butler leading the way.

The Toronto Raptors are closest at home on Thursday night.
