Jodie Foster received a surprising reaction from a fellow star as she accepted her fifth Golden Globe Award on Sunday (January 5).

The 52-year-old American star won the Best Actress in a Limited Series award for her role as Police Chief Liz Danvers in the crime drama True Detective: Night Country.

It was the actress’s tenth nomination and her fifth win. When this fact was announced by the host, her fellow nominee for the category said: Griselda Star Sofia Vergara playfully shouted, “No! NO! Not again! Give me one!”

Vergara was nominated for her role as “cocaine godmother” Griselda Blanco in the Netflix series. She looked serious as the camera panned towards her before bursting into laughter.

Foster took the interruption in good humor, joking, “I know, I know.”

The Silence of the Lambs In her acceptance speech, the star then paid tribute to Vergara, saying, “The best thing about being at this age and this time is having a community of all these people, especially you, Sofia.”

She then thanked her family and made a rare mention of her wife, Alexandra Hedison, as well as “the indigenous people who share their stories with us,” adding: “They have changed my life, hopefully they will change yours too.”

Foster, who has won two Oscars and numerous Golden Globes, previously won at the ceremony for her performances as a lead actress in ” The defendant in 1989, The Silence of the Lambs in 1992 and as a supporting actor in The Mauritanian in 2021. In 2013, she was honored with the Cecil B DeMille Award, an honorary award from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) for “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment.”

The nominations were announced on December 9th with a controversial musical crime comedy Emilia Perez Hulu leads the field with 10 nominations The bear dominated the TV categories.

This evening was the FX drama set in Japan Shogun which emerged victorious, winning all four awards for which it was nominated.

In the film categories The brutalisthailed as a “masterpiece” after its festival premiere, won some of the night’s biggest awards, including Adrien Brody’s win for Best Actor in a Drama.

Emilia Perez“The Film” also won four awards, including a surprise win in the Best Film: Musical or Comedy category.
