Arkansas was full of hope, as John Calipari took over the program and achieved the biggest coaching success of the offseason. After four games it was almost out of control. All four SEC contests have come against Arkansas, most recently Tuesday night against Arkansas LSU.

According to Calipari, there is currently no reason to panic. While speaking to the media, he revealed his message from the locker room after the game, telling the Arkansas players that he’s “not freaking out.” Right now, the most important thing for him is to move on to the next game and find a way to win.

“I thought we had more fun playing than we have,” Calipari said. “I know that’s how I trained. Like I said, I have to do a better job and I told them after the game that I wasn’t going through. So let’s just move on. Let’s get ready for the next one, we have a day off tomorrow, in two days. And Missouri On the road, another away game.”

In the four-game losing streak, LSU is the only team unranked. Arkansas fell Florida, Ole MissAnd Tennessee at the start of the year – all understandable since this trio will be competing for the SEC regular season championship. But a loss like that at LSU, which also entered Tuesday with a 0-3 conference record, may raise alarm bells in Fayetteville.

Not Calipari, though. He appears ready to overcome the adversity his team faced in mid-January. Next up, as mentioned, is Missouri. You know the Tigers want to keep the momentum going in front of the Mizzou Arena crowd, with kickoff scheduled for 5:00 p.m. CT.

To figure out Calipari’s last five-game losing streak, you have to go back to the beginning of the 2020-2021 season. Kentucky started 1-6 in non-conference play and ultimately missed the NCAA Tournament.

Arkansas could now find itself in the same danger zone. Before LSU’s loss, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi predicted they would be the first team eliminated from the 68-player field in his latest bracketology.

Calipari is determined to stay strong and turn Arkansas’ season around, which begins Saturday.
