SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga sprained his right ankle Saturday night and coach Steve Kerr expects the forward to be out for some time.

Kuminga was injured in the final minutes of the first half of Golden State’s 121-113 win over the Memphis Grizzlies while trying to block a shot and landed awkwardly. He will undergo an MRI scan.

Kerr said Kyle Anderson will play more minutes in Kuminga’s absence.

“It’s not going to be an everyday thing, it was a significant sprain,” Kerr said. “We won’t have a report until tomorrow.”

Golden State hosts Sacramento in back-to-back games on Sunday.

Kuminga entered the game as the Warriors’ second-leading scorer behind Stephen Curry with an average of 16.9 points, but was only able to score 13 points in 15 minutes.

“It’s going to be hard. “JK has been playing the best basketball of his career the last few weeks, so we will miss him,” Kerr said. “But Kyle will fill in just fine.”

Anderson played more than 21 minutes and recorded seven points, three assists and three rebounds. His playing time has been inconsistent, but Anderson is eager for his opportunity.

“I’ve already done my job when I wasn’t playing as far as training and being ready, so it’s just a matter of going out there and playing basketball,” Anderson said, noting he’s faced similar circumstances before. “I’ve been in this situation two or three times in my career and I’ve always made it to the playoffs. That’s just the goal, to keep getting better, supporting my teammates and, when my number is called, going out there and doing what I can.”

The Warriors were able to rely on their strong squad all season long due to injuries.

“I’m just glad we have the depth we have with Kyle,” Kerr said. “…That’s why we added a lot of depth to be able to withstand some injuries.”
