Jonathan Kuminga out of Warriors vs. Grizzlies with ankle injury – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

Jonathan Kuminga was the Warriors’ top scorer in the first half on Saturday, but his night ended early.

The fourth-year NBA forward twisted his right ankle just before halftime against the Memphis Grizzlies at Chase Center and was ejected from the game by the Warriors shortly after the start of the third quarter.

The injury occurred when Kuminga blocked a shot from Grizzlies guard Jake LaRavia with 2:27 left in the second quarter. Kuminga rolled his right ankle onto the foot of Memphis big man Brandon Clarke.

Kuminga remained on the pitch for a moment before limping to the dressing room.

In 15 minutes off the bench, Kuminga scored a team-high 13 points on 4 of 6 shots from the field and 3 of 3 from 3-pointers. He had two rebounds, two assists and four turnovers.

With Steph Curry sidelined with bilateral knee tendonitis, the Warriors relied on Kuminga to fill the scoring void. Now they have to look elsewhere for points against the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference.
