Justin Tucker gets brutally honest about the Baltimore Ravens’ loss

The thought of Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker becoming a liability seemed ridiculous just a few months ago, but it is becoming a reality before our eyes.

There’s no sugarcoating it, not only did Tucker look like a shell of his former self, but he was also one of the worst kickers in the league. The future Hall of Fame kicker has now missed 10 kicks (eight field goals and two extra points), the most in the league, the most he has missed in a single season of his illustrious career.

Sunday’s 24-19 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles was the nadir, or at least it seems that way at the moment. Tucker missed two field goals and an extra point, costing the Ravens seven crucial points. This was also a five-point defeat.

No one takes these mistakes harder than Tucker, who continues to take full responsibility for his problems.

“As simple as I can put it, I missed the kicks and I’ll leave it at that,” Tucker said after the game. “I just left the points out there. “I feel like I cost us that, but it doesn’t really do anyone any good to think about it.

Tucker handled the situation with as much class as one could hope for. He has never offended any of his teammates and has always taken the blame himself. This is obviously a very difficult situation for him, but he deserves credit for the way he handled it.

After Sunday’s loss, the Ravens now head into a much-needed bye week, and that’s anything but a guarantee that Tucker will work hard to get back on track. Hopefully he comes out of the game much better when the Ravens take on the New York Giants on December 15th.
