Justus Terry, the nation’s second-ranked DL, chooses Texas over Georgia

Manchester (Ga.) Five-Star Plus+ Defensive Lineman Jupiter Terry committed to Texas over Georgia and Auburn on the final day of the early signing period.

Terry, a one-time UGA and USC commit, gives Steve Sarkisian and Co. a decisive win at the end of the 2025 cycle and a huge building block for the future.

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that takes into account all four major recruiting media companies, the 6-foot-1, 275-pounder is the No. 9 overall prospect in the Class of 2025. He is also considered the No. 2 defensive lineman and No. 2 contender in the Peach State.

He committed early to the Bulldogs in January 2023, which lasted more than a year before joining USC in his first game in Los Angeles in March 2024. Together with Five-Star Plus+ EDGE and his Georgian compatriot Isaiah Gibsongave Lincoln Riley and Co. a huge boost in their class.

However, both withdrew within a few days. Gibson quickly committed to the Bulldogs in-state, but Terry took his time with the process. In addition to his official visits with the Bulldogs, he made stops at Florida State, Alabama, Auburn and Texas in recent months.

“Explosive defensive player with a large build and outstanding quickness in the first step. Before his senior season, he stood over 6-foot-3 and weighed about 280 pounds. Has a good length with arms measuring around 33.5 to 34 inches. The weight is evenly distributed over the entire body. Dominant in the small school area with 78 tackles, 21 tackles for loss and 13 sacks. Lines up all over the defensive front at the high school level. Has the skills to develop into a dynamic interior pass rusher. Wins with speed and lateral speed, has rare take-off and leverage for a player of his stature. Good flexion and the ability to change direction. Uses his length to consistently initiate contact and shed blocks with ease. Can be anchored and provided with two gaps if required. He needs to continue to build mass and playing strength in addition to improving his technical skills. Given his natural characteristics, he is a great prospect for success and could become a true inner disruptor.”
