Twitch streamer Kai Cenat is angry at magician Max after he unexpectedly pulled a dangerous prank that could have resulted in serious injury.

The 22-year-old internet personality is nearing the end of his subathon called “Mafiathon 2,” where he will be streaming for 30 days throughout November. He welcomed celebrity guests such as Snoop Dogg, Miranda Cosgrove and Sexxy Red.

On Wednesday (November 26th), Cenat, Max and their friends met on a basketball court to get content for the livestream. However, Cenat was reportedly unaware that Max had planned a prank that began with him standing on scaffolding with three ropes attached to ripcords behind him.

Max wrapped a string around his neck and encouraged Cenat to pull one.

Max said he knew Cenat would “make the right choice,” which caused Cenat to tighten the rope around Max, sending him into the air for a few moments before the rope fell. Cenat immediately told his friends to turn off the live stream and “put the camera away.”

When the cameras were turned back on, Cenat appeared distraught. “What?” he asked as a member of Max’s team asked him to stay behind so someone could help untie the rope from Max’s neck.

“I could get banned,” Cenat said. “Is he good? I’ll stay here.”

When Cenat later returned to his house, he found a URL link to a video of Max explaining that the stunt was planned and everything was supposed to happen the way it did. Confused and annoyed, Cenat looked for Max and angrily called out to him for answers.

Cenat said Max and his team only told him that the content they would be shooting would “break the internet,” but no further details about the script were given.

“Max told my team that he ended up doing something completely different, it had nothing to do with it. Then he did that,” emphasized Cenat Dexerto.

The only response Cenat supposedly received from Max was: “Let the story be what it is.”

Since Max pulled his prank, Cenat has been under fire for the broadcast of the stunt. One person on X/Twitter wrote: “What was the plan here? Prank or no prank, the guy still has a rope around his neck. It’s just crazy that Kai’s team would even approve of something like that.

“There is no ‘magic’ or ‘prank’ that involves putting a rope around someone’s neck. “It’s just a line you don’t cross,” they continued.

A second person agreed: “What kind of world is this funny when the audience is all kids?”

Amid the backlash, some of Cenat’s supporters came to his defense, arguing that he had no idea what Max would do.

“Just saw the clip. Kai seems genuinely shocked and worried about Max. Kai wouldn’t have allowed something like that. I believe him and his team when they say they were told something different would happen,” said one fan.

Whether Kai knew the extent of the prank or not, the move could have cost him his streaming abilities on Twitch. Twitch, a popular live video streaming service, has strict community guidelines when it comes to content.

“We want to foster a community that supports and sustains streamers’ expression and provides viewers with a welcoming and entertaining environment that is free from illegal, harmful and negative interactions,” the Twitch website says. “When we speak of harm, we mean actions that result in physical, emotional, social or financial harm or loss to our users or society.”

“If we determine that someone has violated our Community Guidelines, we will take action, which may include removing content, removing monetization tools, issuing a warning, and/or suspending their account.”
