Kansas City Chiefs stats and milestones for Week 17 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

When the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday, the team itself can accomplish something for the first time. Additionally, strong performances by individual players on Christmas Day can see them rise in the rankings if they hit certain benchmarks.

Let’s take a look at some of the most intriguing stats and milestones that are within reach for the Chiefs in Week 17.

With their Week 16 victory over the Houston Texans, the Chiefs achieved their highest win total in a season with their 14th win of the 2024-25 season. This puts the 2020 and 2022 seasons tied for 14th place. On Wednesday, Andy Reid’s team can stand alone with a win in Pittsburgh. Even in a 17-game season, it is unusual for a club to reach the 15-win mark. Given all the injuries and adversity Kansas City has dealt with this year, this would be a huge testament to the team’s championship DNA.

Patrick Mahomes has been playing much better since starting the year with six touchdowns and eight interceptions. The two-time NFL MVP is coming off a Week 8 win over the Las Vegas Raiders and has scored 17 touchdowns on just three picks. If he throws three touchdowns on Christmas Day, he will pass Pro Football Hall of Fame signal-caller Peyton Manning for the most touchdown passes in a player’s first eight seasons. Considering Mahomes only made one start as a rookie and may not play against the Denver Broncos in Week 18, he will need a strong performance in Week 17 to overtake Manning.

Another week, another chance for Travis Kelce to once again etch his name in Kansas City’s history books. After scoring the final goal in Week 10 against the Broncos, the football world has been waiting for a while to see Kelce pass Tony Gonzalez for the most touchdowns in Chiefs history. Is this finally the week? Potentially, and Kelce can also reach 1,000 career receptions with just four catches on Wednesday in Pittsburgh. There’s a lot at stake for him as he completes his 12th year in the NFL.

In recent weeks, Chiefs rookie wideout Xavier Worthy has grown rapidly and become a more impactful option for opposing defenses. That continued against Houston as he hauled in seven passes for 65 yards and a touchdown, a season high. With an additional touchdown in Week 17, Worthy can tie for second place with the most touchdowns by a rookie in Chiefs history. Rashee Rice’s seven touchdowns in 2023 spoiled the team, but Worthy’s debut season has also brought plenty of recent success.
