KaVontae Turpin was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week

FRISCO, Texas – For the first time in his career, KaVontae Turpin was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

He only made one notable play in last Sunday’s game – but it was certainly one of the most electrifying plays in team history.

Turpin’s 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown gave the Cowboys a commanding lead in a 34-26 victory over Washington, ending Dallas’ five-game losing streak.
The game didn’t start out well for Turpin, who rocked a line drive kickoff back and forth and had to return it at the 1-yard line, followed by a slow run down the field. But then Turpin performed a video game-like spin move, followed by a burst of speed that left the Commanders in the dust.

Turpin became the first player this season to score both a kickoff return and a punt return for touchdowns as he scored on a 60-yard punt return in Week 1 against Cleveland. Turpin also has two touchdown receptions.

He is only the fifth player since the NFL-AFL merger to score more than 60 yards touchdowns as a punt returner, kick returner and receiver in the same season.

Turpin is also the second Cowboys player, joining Kevin Williams, to record a rushing touchdown, a receiving touchdown, a kickoff return touchdown and a punt return touchdown in his career.
