John Wick: Chapter 4 gave this character a potentially perfect ending with his presumed death after fighting a final duel to disappear from the High Table. Wick appears to die in the final scene where his tombstone is displayed, and while that’s no guarantee of anything in the world of cinema, the mysterious, open-ended possibilities would be a perfect ending for this particular franchise and character .

Ultimately, the audience wouldn’t want to see it John Wick: Chapter 5 if it couldn’t live up to its predecessors, and much of that would fall on Reeves’ shoulders. While his performance in the title role is about much more than just the action that takes place in these films, they play such an important role that if Reeves weren’t physically able to pull it off, people would would feel underwhelmed. The fact that he takes the character’s integrity so seriously should be viewed as a positive because it means that if John Wick: Chapter 5 is done, then it is done at the highest level.
