Keenan Allen rejects idea of joining NFC Dumpster Fire

Chicago Bears veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen isn’t having a typical season in the Windy City. Allen, who the Bears acquired from the Los Angeles Chargers in the offseason, got off to a slow start.

Allen has recorded 39 receptions (71 targets) for 368 yards and three touchdowns in nine games this season. The 32-year-old wide receiver is on pace for 60 receptions (110 targets) for 569 yards and five touchdowns, which would be a huge decline from what he managed last season with the Chargers.

The veteran receiver is scheduled to be a free agent after this season, meaning he could go elsewhere or hopefully re-sign with the Windy City. Allen was on “The Big Dog Show” with David Kaplan and Bears teammate Marcedes Lewis, where he was asked about his future.

According to Bears Wire’s Brendan Surgue, Allen told Kaplan and Lewis that he would like to play in LA or Chicago in 2025. However, the wide receiver also mentioned that he or his agent has had discussions with Bears GM Ryan Poles.

At the same time, Allen made it clear that there is one team in the NFC that he doesn’t want to play for – the New York Giants. Kaplan asked the wide receiver about the Giants as a proposed free agent and said with a laugh, “No, definitely not the Giants.”

I don’t think anyone would blame Allen for rejecting the idea of the Giants, who have been a dumpster fire this season. Their starting QB game has been less than stellar, which is why their offense has looked terrible this season.

Additionally, the way New York had star running back Saquon Barkley in free agency last year probably doesn’t help them.

However, teaming up with DJ Moore and Rome Odunze wouldn’t be a bad idea if Allen returns to the Windy City next season at a reasonable price. Even though Allen hasn’t played like the guy we’ve seen in Los Angeles in recent years, having the Bears maintain that continuity for a second year with Caleb Williams could do wonders.
