Kevin Durant injures his ankle during the first half of the Suns-Spurs NBA Cup game

Kevin Durant was forced out of Tuesday’s NBA Cup game against the San Antonio Spurs after twisting his left ankle on a sub attack in the second quarter.

Durant was sidelined for the rest of the game in the second half with a sprained left ankle.

Durant appeared to step on a player’s foot as he twisted his ankle. He then landed hard on the right side, landing on the ground as Spurs forward Justin Champagnie was whistled for a foul with 4:30 left in the half.

Royce O’Neale replaced Durant with 3:51 left in the first half. Durant hit a jump shot between the foul and elimination, but didn’t return for the rest of the half after going to the bench.

Durant scored 13 points on 5 of 8 shooting in the first half and shot 2 of 2 from 3.

Grayson Allen started the second half in place of Durant, who came onto the court for a second but then left and went to the locker room.

The NBA’s eighth all-time leading scorer missed seven games with a right calf injury. The Suns went 1-6 in those games.

The Suns begin a three-game road trip on Thursday against the New Orleans Pelicans.
