For the first time in their successful careers, Kevin Durant and Russell Wilson faced each other on Christmas Day.

The former teammates represented the Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets, respectively, in the final game of the Christmas slate. As expected, the game was intense and competitive.

The two spent eight seasons together with the Oklahoma State Warriors, reaching the 2011-12 NBA Finals with the team. They have not been teammates since then, but have met several times as division rivals.

In the first half, Durant scored 14 points, five assists and three rebounds while shooting 5 of 14. Westbrook came off the bench and had nine points, three rebounds and one assist on 4 of 9 shooting.

Fans took to social media to praise the match, expressing their excitement over the match and praising the two for playing hard against each other.

Russ vs. KD to end the night. This is the main event we’ve all been waiting for.

Phoenix entered halftime with a 58-56 lead over the Nuggets and hopes to improve to 15-14 on the season.

This is the second of four meetings between the two teams and the next one is not until February 8th.
