Kirk Herbstreit shares a personal letter from President Biden following the loss of his beloved dog Ben

Less than a month after he shared the heartbreaking news of his beloved dog’s death with ESPN College football Analyst Kirk Herbstreit shared a letter he received from President Biden expressing his condolences.

Herbstreit shared the news on social media last month that he had to make the difficult decision to euthanize his golden retriever, Ben, after his own Fight against cancer.

“This is really hard to write, but so many of you loved and cared about Ben that I wanted to let you know. We found out today that the cancer had spread to Ben’s organs and there was nothing we could do – we had to let it go.” “He’s leaving,” Herbstreit wrote.

News of Ben’s death sparked an outpouring of support from the college football community.

Ben’s popularity apparently reached that too White House.

“Politics aside – I am truly honored to receive this personal message from @POTUS expressing his appreciation and compassion for the loss of our beloved Ben,” Herbstreit wrote in a post on Wednesday.

“I can only hope Ben knows how many people he touched.”

Biden’s Nov. 22 letter discussed Ben’s impact on the community.

“Ben has brought so much comfort and unconditional love to millions of Americans across our country. In your most joyful moments and saddest days, he was there, sensitive to every unspoken feeling and emotion,” Biden’s letter said.

“I know what it’s like to lose a beloved pet and I hope you find some comfort in preserving the beautiful memories you shared with Ben. He was a good boy.”

Ben accompanied Herbstreit on the road as he covered “Thursday Night Football” and “College GameDay” for Prime Video and ESPN. Amid Ben’s ongoing health issues, Herbstreit provided updates to Ben’s many fans on social media.

“He was at home with me more than anyone else and traveled with me to work. Such a relaxed companion. A hard day – but it will live in all of us forever. God, please bless his majestic soul and thank you for accepting him into mine.” Life for the last 10 years – a true blessing. I love you, Ben.”
