Koby Brea is questionable but expected to play in Kentucky vs. Georgia: SEC Basketball Injury Report

Koby Brea is no longer listed in the SEC’s latest availability report, seemingly indicating that he will play for Kentucky basketball against Georgia.

Kerr Kriisa is the only player from either team on the roster as he is sidelined while recovering from foot surgery.

Georgia’s De’Shayne Montgomery is also out after previously being listed as a likely call-up.

Winning in Athens will require all hands on deck, so it’s good to see that Brea appears to be going for it.

The Kentucky Wildcats’ backcourt will already have to make do without Kerr Kriisa for the foreseeable future. Could it be without Koby Brea when the Cats take on the Georgia Bulldogs on Tuesday?

The SEC availability report lists Brea as questionable to play in Athens, while Georgia standout defenseman De’Shayne Montgomery is likely to play. Montgomery is averaging 13.5 points (56.8% shooting), 2.5 steals, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game.

It’s unclear what type of injury/illness Brea might be dealing with, but this would be a big loss for a Kentucky team fresh off a top-10 win over Florida due to her 3-point shooting prowess.

In the 106-100 win at Lexington, Brea scored a career-high 23 points and made a career-best seven 3s, the second-most against a top-10 opponent in program history. It helped him earn Co-SEC Player of the Week honors.

Brea has been a key offensive player for Kentucky this season, so not having him would be a huge blow to the offense. Kentucky won at Gonzaga earlier this season despite holding Brea to five points on 2/9 shooting, but his presence on the court alone makes a difference.

Kentucky is certainly hoping No. 4 can pull this off and play in the first SEC road game of the season on Tuesday night.
