KRAVEN THE HUNTER social media reactions land after initial press screenings

The first reactions to Sony Pictures’ Kraven the Hunter are now online after an initial round of press screenings and they’re… not quite as bad as we expected?

Particularly the studio’s previous SSU films Madam Web And Morbiuspretty much killed any hype surrounding this R-rated solo outing from the popular Spider-Man villain, but it sounds like it could be fun.

A handful of people loved the film, and while the majority of reactions are definitely negative, the gruesome violence and action scenes seem to be a big selling point. The script, the acting, the visual effects, and pretty much every other aspect of the film?

Well, read the X posts below for yourself and we will continue to update as more come along.

The full review embargo will be lifted tomorrow at 3:00 pm EST. So be sure to check back to find out our verdict.

“Kraven the Hunter is the powerful story of how and why one of Marvel’s most iconic villains came to be. Before his infamous vendetta with Spider-Man, Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays the title character of the R-rated film.”

Kraven the Hunter is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, produced by Columbia Pictures in association with Marvel Entertainment. Distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing, the film is said to be the sixth film in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU). The film was directed by JC Chandor and written by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and Richard Wenk.

Alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the title role, Ariana DeBose will play Calypso, a voodoo priestess and Kraven’s on-off love interest (at least in the comics); Fred Hechinger is Dmitri Smerdyakov, also known as the Chameleon, who is Kraven’s half-brother; Alessandro Nivola will play Aleksei Sytsevich, aka the Rhino, and Christopher Abbott will play another villain named Foreigner.

Sony’s next “SMU” film is rated R “Strong bloody violence and language.”
