Kristaps Porzingis leaves Celtics-Wizards game with injury

Celtics big man Kristaps Porzingis was forced to leave Boston’s game against the Washington Wizards on Sunday due to a foot injury.

With five minutes left in the second quarter, Porzingis appeared to injure his right foot after an alley-oop. Although Porzingis limped off the field, he went to the locker room of his own accord.

The Celtics announced that Porzingis’ return was “questionable” due to right heel soreness, but he never did. Luke Kornet started the second half, while Al Horford (rest) had to sit out on Sunday.

The former Wizard put together one of his best games of the season since returning to the lineup after offseason leg surgery. In 11 minutes, Porzingis was 5 of 6 from the field and scored 11 points, helping the Celtics build a double-digit lead on the road.

Porzingis has averaged 20.3 points and 7.8 rebounds in six games this season. Porzingis injured his ankle in the Celtics’ shocking loss to the Memphis Grizzlies last week, but didn’t miss any significant time.
