In the long list of outstanding Chargers rookies in franchise history, McConkey is now at the top.

“He was an incredible teammate, humble and hungry from day one,” Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh said. “He is a powerful man, a football player.

“There have been many great receivers in Chargers history, so to set the rookie receiver record is just phenomenal,” Harbaugh added.

McConkey added: “It’s definitely good company.”

But even on an afternoon where the rookie set some new records, he was beyond happy with what he was able to contribute to the win that will keep the Bolts playing well into January.

“It’s cool, but I’m just happy we’re getting into the playoffs,” McConkey said with a smile.

He later added: “You hear so many people say that when you’ve been in the league for years, you shouldn’t take it for granted. It’s a special group of people who worked hard. We had a chance in front of us and we took advantage of it.”

But even though McConkey was quick to look past the accolades, the rookie also took a moment to reflect.

“We’re so busy with training, meetings and all that, but when I sit back and think about it, this is definitely a special moment,” McConkey said. “But getting into the playoffs is even more special.

“I just want to continue to contribute to my team and continue to make plays,” McConkey added.
