Lakers Injury Report: Cam Reddish, Dalton Knecht available, Jaxson Hayes out, vs. Spurs

UPDATE: The Lakers have provided us with an update on the injury report. Jaxson Hayes is officially out against the Spurs on Wednesday after suffering a bruised right ankle in Tuesday’s game against the Suns.

Both Dalton Knecht and Cam Reddish were questionable earlier in the day, but have now been officially declared available for this road game in San Antonio.

Knecht is dealing with a bruised right quad and Reddish has pain in his left ankle.

Los Angeles is currently on a three-game losing streak and is hoping to avoid losing a fourth game in a row.

The original story follows.

Things could hardly have gone worse for the Lakers on Tuesday. In the final minutes of a stunning loss to the Suns, the team’s first loss in the NBA Cup, Jaxson Hayes appeared to suffer a foot injury after a dunk.

Hayes had just returned to the lineup after missing several weeks with a sprained ankle.

It was a fairly harmless game that led to the injury. After a pass from Cam Reddish found Hayes open under the basket, the big man dove for the dunk and immediately screamed in pain.

When he finished the piece, he immediately collapsed to the ground in pain. At some point he had to be helped to get up from the floor and go straight to the locker room.

After the game, the Lakers announced that Hayes had re-aggravated the right ankle sprain he initially sustained. The team would provide an update on his status before Wednesday’s game against Spurs.

There was no landing on a player’s foot or twisting of the ankle. In reality, there was hardly anything that could have caused the injury. However, if the injury worsens again, it is difficult to imagine him being back on the pitch any time soon.

There is currently no indication of exactly how long he will be out for. The Lakers survived his absence in November thanks to Christian Koloko’s solid performance.

However, can they afford to do this again before what is arguably the toughest month of the season? It’s a difficult situation for the Lakers and Hayes.
