Lakers injury report: Reaves, D’Angelo Russell, Cam Reddish out vs. Jazz

The Lakers will be severely undermanned in Sunday’s duel with the Jazz. Austin Reaves, D’Angelo Russell and Cam Reddish will all be out. Russell and Reddish are both dealing with illnesses, while Reaves is sidelined with a bruised pelvis after falling badly in Friday’s game against the Thunder.

Gabe Vincent will start, JJ Redick announced before the game. Max Christie will also get a ton of run, while Jalen Hood-Schifino is expected to play.

Unfortunately, this will likely be the Lakers’ entire guard rotation on Sunday. Two-way rookie Quincy Olivari is injured and hasn’t played in the last few G League games, keeping him out.

Bronny James is also struggling with an injury and is out with a bruised left heel, meaning he will not be able to play in this game. So there will be a lot of Dalton Knecht, Vincent, Christie and JHS.

With the trio out, the Lakers essentially only have enough healthy players for a rotation and nothing else. With Rui Hachimura, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, that’s basically their rotation. Two-way new signing Christian Koloko could see time, as could Armel Traore, but that’s about the extent of the players who will be available.

As for the missed trio, the team travels to Minnesota for a clash on Monday, so D’Lo and Reddish will need a quick change to be available again. As for Reaves, that was a pretty scary fall, and even though he finished Friday’s game, it’s not surprising that he cramped up and felt worse after the game.

The team will also make stops in Miami and Atlanta on their road trip this week. The sooner they return, the better for the Lakers, who will face a very difficult task without them.
