Lakers vs. Heat Final Score: The Lakers are knocked out by the Heat

Wednesday’s game was ugly for the Lakers, who lost 134-93 on the road to the Heat.

Miami went nuclear from deep, setting an all-time franchise record for 3-pointers made in a game with 24 threes.

LeBron James finished the game with 29 points, eight assists and five rebounds. Anthony Davis struggled again, scoring just eight points with seven rebounds and five assists. D’Angelo Russell scored 10 points with four assists. Rui Hachimura scored 14 points and shot six for seven from the field.

LeBron got off to a fiery start, scoring all six of LA’s first points. Miami missed a few shots but eventually got going and took a lead of eight.

Haywood Highsmith, Duncan Robinson and Tyler Herro hit 3-pointers for the Heat.

The Lakers failed with their defensive plans and gave the Heat players free rein far behind the court.

Things took a turn for the worse when the Heat went on a 20-3 run to extend their lead to 14. LA also struggled to secure rebounds, with the Heat having 12 rebounds and the Lakers three.

Los Angeles gained some momentum and reduced the deficit to seven. D’Lo and Rui each had up to five points and shouldered the offensive load. At the end of the first period, LA only trailed by eight.

Not much good happened for the Lakers as they trailed by 13 early in the second quarter.

Gabe Vincent made a 3-pointer, but no one else made good shots. Miami’s lead continued to grow as they continued to get good, open plays.

LeBron was still on fire, up to 16 points on just two misses. Another layup from LeBron cut the deficit to 10 and forced a Miami timeout.

Highsmith drilled a 3-pointer after the timeout. Miami kept shooting out the lights, extending its lead to 17. LA continued to have major problems with defense, turnovers and rebounds.

The Lakers trailed by 17 at halftime.

There was a defensive breakdown in the second half that led to a dunk by Butler. AD missed two shots in a row and kept fighting. The Lakers called a timeout as Miami began to cook again, extending their lead to 21.

LeBron finally hit a three-pointer and scored with a mid-range shot. After the previous game where D’Lo was the only one with offensive firepower, tonight it was all LeBron.

The three-pointers continued to storm for the Heat as they shot 51% from behind the arc. Herro had blocked 13 of Miami’s 31 attempts and converted seven of them. He had a 9-0 run on his own.

Los Angeles couldn’t find answers for Herro, who continued to practice his threes. Rui quietly had a great game and only missed one shot, but that didn’t matter to the lifeless Lakers, who looked like a mess as a team.

At the end of the third period, the Lakers were way too far behind.

With 8:44 left in the fourth, the purple and gold emptied the bench and called it a day.

Key Takeaways:

Where is the care? What’s wrong with this team?

We’ve reached the point in the season where AD is having a string of bad games and none of us know what’s happening to him. How will he react?

It’s very concerning that Dalton Knecht isn’t getting enough contact after having such great games. To help him out of this slump, the Lakers need to find ways to get him more looks at the basket.

The Lakers’ next game is against the Miami Heat on Friday at 4:30 p.m. PT.
