A balanced offensive attack with seven players in double figures helped the Lakers end their losing streak with a 119-101 win over the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night.

Anthony Davis and LeBron James both had slow first halves but woke up in the second. AD scored 19 points with 14 rebounds, seven assists and one steal. LeBron had another triple-double with 16 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds.

D’Angelo Russell was aggressive offensively. He finished the game with 17 points and five assists. Dalton Knecht was reinserted into the starting lineup and scored 20 points with eight rebounds, two assists and one steal.

Max Christie was big off the bench with 12 points, four rebounds, two assists and a block. Rui Hachimura contributed 16 points, five rebounds, two assists and a block.

The Lakers started shaky, but the offense looked better once they got Dalton going. Victor Wembanyama got off to a great start for the Spurs, blocking AD and firing a 3-pointer. Dalton was the first on the team to reach double figures with 10 points.

AD dominated in the rebounding department, grabbing six of LA’s 12 boards.

Los Angeles’ defense was better, holding the Spurs to 23 points in the quarter. At the end of the first period, LA was up by nine.

LA continued its strong play in the second quarter. D’Lo became the second player on the team to score in double figures with 11 points. He was also nearly perfect from the field, as five of his six shot attempts were on target.

D’Lo sank his second 3-pointer of the game and the Lakers were ahead by 14 points. San Antonio stepped up its defense and that led to four quick points.

Los Angeles’ defense stepped up again, forcing the Spurs players into hard-contested shots. San Antonio had cut the deficit to eight, but a 3-pointer from Austin gave the Lakers an 11-point halftime lead.

The second half began with Austin snatching the ball from Wemby. That didn’t matter as the Spurs started to heat up offensively. They reduced the deficit to six. Wemby drilled a wide-open 3-pointer that forced a Lakers timeout to halt the momentum that San Antonio was beginning to build.

Rui hit a much-needed 3-pointer to give the Lakers some lead. Spurs’ second chance opportunities gave them life. They arrived within four years.

Los Angeles responded well with Max Christie knocking down his free throws while AD and Dalton hit the ground running with their goals. AD was very aggressive, which led to a stronger quarter for him.

Max had an outstanding time and was everywhere, scoring dunks, three-pointers and blocking shots. LA overcame its struggles in the third quarter and ended up leading by 15.

The Spurs struck first with a layup in the final frame. D’Lo knocked down another 3-pointer to highlight his excellent play off the bench.

Julian Champagnie was in charge of keeping Spurs close. He hit a three-pointer and turned it into a 10-point game.

San Antonio scored a lot of points in transition and had up to 18 fast break points. Austin hit a huge 3-pointer to give the Lakers more cushion in a lead that was thinning as the Spurs tried to come back.

After a difficult first half, LeBron and AD woke up in the fourth. LeBron had up to 14 points. The Spurs didn’t let up and took advantage of the Lakers’ defensive weakness.

Dalton scored five straight points, including a dunk and a 3-pointer, to extend the lead to 19, leading to the Spurs waving the white flag and emptying their bench with less than four minutes to play.
