My analysis

Through 18 games, the San Antonio Spurs are deep in the Western Conference playoff race and are just half a game behind the Los Angeles Lakers. Los Angeles won their first meeting of the season in San Antonio 120-115, but I’m counting on the Spurs to flip the script in tonight’s rematch.

The Lakers won two of three games against the Spurs last season, coming off wins of three and five points and suffering a 129-115 loss to San Antonio. The first game of the season was once again a hard-fought affair and Spurs once again kept it close. San Antonio was ahead in this game with just under two minutes left, making it a very winnable game.

The Lakers were supposed to be in desperation mode tonight, but I expected them to be hungry for a win against the Suns on Tuesday, and they were run out of the gym in the second half. San Antonio has now won four straight, including victories over the top two teams in the West, the Warriors and Thunder.

The Lakers have lost three straight and are 0-5 ATS in their last five games. The Spurs have won four straight and six of eight times, going a perfect 4-0 ATS during their winning streak. San Antonio is 5-2 straight and ATS as a home dog. The Lakers are the 3-1 away favorite, but are just 1-3 ATS in this situation and 2-6 ATS overall on the road.

In this case, it makes sense to cover the Spurs, but that’s such a tight line that I’d rather take the plus mod odds on a straight San Antonio win. My NBA tips will help the hot home team move on and put Los Angeles ahead for the fourth straight year.

There’s no reason to shy away from Victor Wembanyama anymore, especially when he’s incredibly hot. The French phenom has reached the PRA Over in six consecutive appearances, averaging 32.5 points, 10.7 rebounds and four assists.

Wemby easily conceded that lead in his first meeting with the Lakers this season, settling for 28/14/5. Last season, he averaged 41 PRAs in three games against LA and reached the over in two of three games.

Wemby was great at home, averaging 40.5 PRAs while on the road it was just 31.4. He’s reached that mark in five of nine games at Frost Bank Center, and I expect him to do it again tonight with a Spurs win.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Last night I went to see Anthony Davis with his PRAs prop for the over, and tonight I’m going back to the well.

Despite a stunning loss to the Suns, Davis conceded that lead on Tuesday, and his line moved only slightly from 42.5 to 43.5. This season, Davis is averaging 41.7 PRAs at home and a whopping 47.1 on the road.

He went 40/12/2 against the Spurs in the first meeting this season and averaged 44.5 PRAs against the Spurs last season. Davis is averaging 44.1 PRAs this season. He has reached the over in 10 of 16 games, including five of his last six, and I expect him to do it against Spurs after putting in three excellent performances in a row against them.
