Lamar Jackson: It feels unreal to break Michael Vick’s record

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson’s ability to run with the football has defined him since he entered the league and he is now the all-time leading rushing quarterback.

Jackson’s final carry in Wednesday’s 31-2 win over the Texans took him past Michael Vick for the most rushing yards by a quarterback in NFL history. Jackson accomplished the feat in his 102nd game – Vick played 143 – and he will have plenty of time to add to his 6,110 yards in the coming years.

“To be honest, it feels unreal,” Jackson said in a team transcript. “I just give all the glory to God. I’m grateful, man, because that’s a record that’s been held for a long time with Michael Vick, one of my favorite players. That’s just nonsense.”

Jackson also set another milestone in victory. On his 48-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, he reached a speed of 21.25 miles per hour, the fastest recorded time of his career. Jackson initially joked that he was “jogging” and said it was “crazy” that he was going so fast on his way to the end zone.

Jackson and the Ravens can clinch the AFC North with a win over the Browns in Week 18 and will then look to secure the one big win missing from the two-time MVP’s resume. This is a Super Bowl title and winning would further solidify Jackson as one of the best the league has ever seen.
