She began her journey as co-chair of the RNC in March 2024, but it has been widely discussed that she is considering her possible father-in-law options. President-elect Donald Trump is once again taking the reins of the White House.

“With this big win, I kind of feel like my time is up,” she said. “What I intended to do has been done.”

Trump only began her career as co-chair in March and was instrumental in helping Republicans regain control of the Senate while retaining a slim majority in the House.

There have been talks that she could be considered as a replacement for Florida Senator Marco Rubio, as Trump has announced he would be nominated to be the next secretary of state.

Last month, she told Fox News’ Sean Hannity that she would “love to serve the people of Florida” and “would happily consider” filling the seat if asked.

On Sunday, Trump discussed with Howard Kurtz how much of an honor it would be to even be considered.

“Certainly we have all had the opportunity over the last nine years to fully engage in politics, to understand the American people and what they want, and we have all been residents of the state of Florida for over three years now. ” she said. “If this was presented to me, it would be a real honor.”

Maye Musk, mother of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, is one of many pushing for her to replace Rubio.

“The Senate is an old men’s club. We urgently need a smart, young, open woman who will reveal her secrets,” she wrote on X. Lara Trump is 42.

Elon Musk seemed to agree with his mother’s opinion as he responded to her X post by saying, “Lara Trump is really great.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said on “Hannity” that he would be “overly excited” and that Republicans “couldn’t do anything better … than Lara Trump.”

Ultimately, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is reportedly being considered to replace Pete Hegseth, will choose Rubio’s successor.

Michael Whatley remains RNC chairman.
