Last foggy morning, noticeably cooler over the weekend

A NOTICE ABOUT THICK FOG The fog will be in effect from midnight until 10 a.m. Wednesday, as fog can allow visibility of a quarter mile or less. These poor visibility conditions could make driving conditions hazardous, particularly where roads cross water. When driving, slow down, turn on your headlights and leave enough distance in front of you.

Today and tonight: The potential for fog was recognized this morning, with multiple observation sites recording visibility of a quarter mile or less. Be very careful when driving. The fog will remain a problem for the rest of the morning until it begins to clear and disappear between 9 and 10am. The rest of the day will be unseasonably warm, with highs in the mid to upper 70s. The sky will be mostly cloudy, with isolated showers and thunderstorms possible in the evening hours. The reason for this is the crossing of our next front. The temperatures then drop during the night hours. The minimum temperatures are around 50 degrees, in some places even over 40 degrees.

Next: Expect significantly different conditions for the remainder of the week into the weekend. Thursday and Friday will see highs in the mid 60s and lows in the 40s. There will also be plenty of sunshine. An intensifying blast of cold air will drop our temperatures even further over the weekend. Frost is possible, with some light frosts in the north, closer to the state line. Sunshine will still dominate, but highs will struggle to reach the 60s. Next week it appears that a moderate trend in temperatures will be underway. If you’re hoping for a cold Christmas, it’s becoming increasingly likely that this won’t be the case. We’re not expecting the warmest Christmas on record, but mild would be an appropriate word given the latest information. An early call would be lows near 50 and highs near 70.
