ALTHOUGH. That went across the street. So yes, we have some snow out there. IT’S REALLY MORE A TRAFFIC PROBLEM THAN ANYTHING ELSE. As far as total snowfall goes, it’s not that impressive, but I’ll give you a hint. This area experiences the greatest snowfall. Now once you get to the west of it, as John Atwater pointed out, it really tapers off a bit, but this area here has had rain and the cold air should be moving south. So there will actually be some snow. How is the snowfall so far? There is about an inch of snow well over Chelsea. The same applies to Cambridge. AND THEN IT GOES IN THIS STRETCH FROM NEEDHAM DOWN TO DEDHAM. That’s where we’re actually seeing the heaviest snow right now, about 2.5 inches of snow. CONTINUE TO TRAVEL UNDER THE PIKE WITH SOME HEIGHT. We have a few spots with more than an inch of snow, but I’m watching this cold air work its way south. So you see what it’s like in Billerica, where it’s 28 degrees, or in Woburn, where it’s 30 degrees. It’s cold enough to support the snow, although it’s mixing on the coast, that cold air is trying to push south. So out at Logan Airport we really didn’t get that much snow during the whole thing. And that’s when the humidity really gets the strongest down here. But these temperatures are barely cold enough to allow for wet snowflakes that melt at 38 degrees, like in Hanover. Once you get to DUXBURY it’s more of a rain event than anything else. And the same applies to the cape. WE’RE SEEING TEMPERATURES INTO THE 30S. HOWEVER, WE WILL OBSERVE THE COOLER AIR GOING DOWN JUST WHEN WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF MOISTURE. THIS LATE IN THE STORM IS YOUR BEST CHANCE TO SEE SOME SNOW TOWARD THE CAPE. So this is the band that’s having the hardest time. It will sort of swirl around and then head out to sea. What lies behind it is really, really easy stuff. So you’ll notice what’s going to happen between now and 6:00 tonight. Basically, what you see is what you get. BUT THE COLDER AIR COULD PUSH SOUTH AND TURN INTO SOME SNOW. 7:00 AM ALWAYS THE SAME BUT NOTE, Once you get WEST OF 128, at that point it really tapers off and then the whole thing collapses offshore at 10:00 AM. And that’s why I say that by midnight the whole thing will be over. And now we unleash the incoming cold air. THERE WILL BE LOTS OF CLOUDS TOMORROW. Maybe a passing thunderstorm, but it won’t be the snow we’re looking at today. So this is the band here where we’ll probably see the heaviest. I think it’s generally about 1 to 3 inches of snowfall, but we have a few streaks so far where it might be just a little bit more since you’ve already seen 2.5 inches. And we still have a few hours of snow ahead of us. So tonight it will be snowing and raining by midnight. BUT BE CAREFUL, THE MUSHY WILL FREEZE OUT THERE. We haven’t treated the roads like we do in the middle of winter and so there will be some icy spots out there. So be careful and give yourself enough time. IT IS AN IMPACT. TOMORROW EVENING UNDER A PARTLY CLOUDY SKY, MAYBE A TEMPORARY BREAK, BUT I THINK what you’ll notice more than anything else: It’s going to be cold and breezy. HIGH TOMORROW 28 TO 36. NORTHWEST WIND 15 TO 25 AND IT’S GETTING EVEN COLDER BECAUSE OUR SNOW MAKER IS MOVING FROM HERE TONIGHT IT’S PULLING IN THAT COLD AIR. THIS COLD AIR IS WITH US ON SATURDAY, SUNDAY AND MONDAY. At some point there will be some milder air out here in the West that will factor into our forecast. YOU WILL SEE THIS SHOWING UP ON THE ROAD TO CHRISTMAS. As for the winds, I think the strongest winds will actually be blowing on Sunday morning. We’re talking gusts of 2,530 miles per hour, not a dangerous wind, but then there’s the cold and the wind. Chills will feel like they are below zero. By the way, the wind is getting better as we approach Monday morning. ON SUNDAY MORNING THESE ARE YOUR WIND COOLERS. ONE DIGITS BELOW ZERO. This is cold stuff we haven’t seen in a while. This is what it looks like for the next seven days. MORNING. Just a temporary disturbance, but we’re cold. COLD FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR AND WILL BE REALLY COLD ON SUNDAY AND MONDAY, ESPECIALLY MONDAY MORNING. NOW TUESDAY. It’s Christmas Eve and it looks like we have a chance to see some light snow. It looks like light stuff. We’ll talk more about this in the next half hour, but there’s a chance for it. But should be cleaned up by Christmas Day. AND YOU SEE THE WARMING TREND. As soon as we have Christmas behind us, we start talking about temperatures up to 40 degrees and sunshine. A lot of what we see out there
