“League Of Legends” fans upset about new battle pass and champ unlocks

League of Legends Fans are upset about changes to the way in-game rewards are awarded in the new season, including the ability to unlock new champions without spending money.

When the new season started a few days ago, the response was surprisingly positive, because ultimately it is one of the smallest new seasons ever. The changes to the map were generally well received, the new epic monster Atakhan is already a fan favorite, and everything seemed to be going well. But a few days later, players realize that it seems to be harder than ever to unlock new champions for free.

Earn enough in-game currency beforehand to purchase a new champion League of Legends Buying stores or earning an in-game item that unlocks them for free wasn’t too difficult a task, assuming you were a regular player. But with Riot’s decision to remove many of these systems in favor of a more traditional battle pass, it’s now incredibly difficult for players to earn champions for free.

There’s no exact science on how many champions you can unlock through the Battle Pass, as the guaranteed rewards are still just Champion Capsules, which can yield one random reward for a random champion, one for a champ that you don’t want may not be particularly useful. But even if things go your way, mathematicians believe you’ll still struggle to unlock as many champions in this new season as in previous ones.

What has become a big topic of conversation is the fact that once you complete the 50 base levels of the Battle Pass, it would likely take you over 800 hours to earn enough in-game currency through the recurring rewards to have enough to have one to unlock new champion.

Many fans have taken to social media to complain about the changes and how difficult it is now for players to unlock champions for free. The League of Legends Sub-Reddit is full of people talking about these changes and also complaining that the value of this Battle Pass generally seems to be significantly less compared to the previous ones.

Andrei “Riot Meddler” van Roon, the head of League Studio, has been on the case. However, it appears that the other factors making champions harder to unlock are intentional and will remain.

Some fans demand everyone League of Legends Champions are supposed to be free to play, just like Dota 2 has done so since its inception. However, the fact that the Champions still likely make Riot a lot of money, and the company’s big deal with Microsoft to allow all PC Game Pass subscribers to unlock all Champions as part of their subscription, means that this is extremely unlikely.
