LeBron James Questionable vs. Grizzlies

LeBron James Questionable vs. Grizzlies

The Los Angeles Lakers have released their injury report for Sunday night’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves and LeBron James (left foot injury management) is listed as questionable

Meanwhile, Anthony Davis (left plantar fasciitis) is listed as probable for the game, while Jarred Vanderbilt (recovering from right foot surgery/left knee effusion), Christian Wood (recovering from left knee surgery), Jalen Hood-Schifino ( Left hamstring strain) and Jaxson Hayes (right ankle sprain/bruise) all remain out.

This could be the third game in a row missed by James, who has been dealing with foot soreness but is currently away from the team for personal reasons. Lakers head coach JJ Redick was asked before Friday’s loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves when James would return to the team and said he wasn’t sure.

The situation with James is a bit strange, although it’s never fair to speculate on why someone is gone if it’s for personal reasons.

Regardless, the Lakers may have to find a way to compete without the 20-time All-Star, which was definitely an issue in their loss at Minnesota.

On the bright side, if James has to miss Sunday’s game, he will get a few more days of rest, as the Lakers don’t play again until Thursday when they take on the Sacramento Kings. If James is able to return for this game it will mean he would have been given 13 days’ rest while only missing three games, a much-needed fresh start for the soon-to-be 40-year-old.

However, the Lakers are likely to remain extremely undermanned for the time being, especially in the frontcourt, with James, Vanderbilt, Hayes and Wood out completely.

Regardless of who plays, the duel with the Grizzlies will be exciting, as Ja Morant made it clear after one of their last matches that he doesn’t like the Lakers, while Dalton Knecht was annoyed by a certain disrespect towards James from Morant in Memphis.

A rebuild of the Lakers by trading LeBron James and Anthony Davis is considered unlikely

With the Lakers’ season not going as well as they had hoped so far and LeBron James now no longer with the team, there has naturally been some speculation about a move between him and Anthony Davis.

However, according to recent reports, it is considered unlikely that the Lakers will trade their two stars and embark on a full rebuild by the trade deadline. That makes sense considering the Lakers’ 2025 first-round pick will go to the Atlanta Hawks regardless of where he ends up, so there’s no incentive for the organization to let up.

The hope is that the team can play well enough and force the front office to become buyers before the deadline, but it remains to be seen if that will be the case.
