Legalizing marijuana in the US is one of the biggest mistakes

Elton John does not I think the legalization of marijuana is iconic.

The Time Icon of the Year spoke out against the legalization of weed in an interview published Wednesday for his newly awarded award.

“I say it’s addictive. It leads to other drugs. And when you’re stoned – and I was stoned – you don’t think normally. “The legalization of marijuana in America and Canada is one of the biggest mistakes of all time,” he told Time.

Colorado and Washington became the first US states to legalize marijuana for recreational use in 2012.

Time noted that John “has helped many people get off drugs and has offered to help many others,” noting that “he is Eminem’s sponsor” and how “he organized English pop star Robbie Williams’ first stint in… who organized the rehabilitation.”

The source added that the “I’m Still Standing” singer “tried unsuccessfully to help George Michael.” John’s personal experiences with drugs are explored in the new Disney+ documentary Elton John: Never Too Late.

The 102-minute film, co-directed by RJ Cutler (“Martha,” “Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry”) and John’s husband David Furnish, alternates between John’s legacy era and the countdown to his career’s conclusion and forth. Circle Moment 2022 shows at Dodger Stadium.

The five-time Grammy winner released 13 albums from his 1969 debut “Empty Sky” to 1979’s “Victim of Love,” a stunning work marked in part by excessive drug use, a suicide attempt and the revelation of his bisexuality in a Rolling Stone interview.

“It became clear to us that there were two extraordinary moments in Elton’s life that connected in profound ways,” Cutler told USA TODAY. “First, when he began his career and had a level of success and success that was unparalleled except for The Beatles… And then his monumental decision to stop touring after 50 years. We created an entire film, not to recreate Elton’s Wikipedia page, but to give the audience a cinematic experience. Here we are. Our moment is a moment. How will we live?”
