Leonard Floyd and Nick Bosa among the 49ers with added motivation in Week 18

The San Francisco 49ers may not have a chance of playing their way into the playoffs in their Week 18 game against the Arizona Cardinals. However, that doesn’t mean that some players don’t have enough scope. Aside from pride, bragging rights and improving potential free agent prospects, some players can earn juicy contract incentives and/or achieve some big milestones depending on their performances.

49ers tight end George Kittle has a per-game roster bonus in his contract that pays off simply by appearing in the game. So don’t be shocked if Kittle only does one or two series. The 31-year-old had his most productive season in years, recording 76 receptions for 1,079 yards and 8 touchdowns in just 14 games. He leads tight ends in most receiving categories.

Edge rusher Leonard Floyd could earn some significant incentives with a big day. He currently has 8.5 sacks this season. His contract included a $500,000 bonus for 8, 10 and 12 sacks, respectively. If he records 1.5 sacks today, he’ll make another $500,000. If he pulls off an incredible 3.5 sack performance, he’ll earn another million dollars.

In addition to the explicit financial bonuses, other 49ers could achieve some big milestones. Superstar edge rusher Nick Bosa needs double-digit sacks for his fourth straight season. Wide receiver Jauan Jennings is 77 yards away from his first career 1,000-yard season.
