Liberal media raves about Biden’s farewell speech: “It sends a chill down my spine”

President Biden gave what some liberal media commentators called one of the “best,” “most memorable” and “most sober” speeches of his life on Wednesday night.

Biden delivered his farewell address to the country from the Oval Office, ending a career in politics that spanned half a century.

“I think that was perhaps one of the best speeches I’ve ever heard from Joe Biden,” said former Obama adviser and CNN commentator David Axelrod after the president’s conclusion.

“And the reason for that is because he gave the speech about the country. Yes, he claimed credit for progress, but the speech was about the country he believes in, the country he sees, the challenges and threats he sees. And ultimately.” “It was a very optimistic speech that if we are serious about overcoming it, we can overcome it,” he added.

Ashley Etienne, Vice President Kamala Harris’ former communications director, agreed with Axelrod, adding how “poignant and relevant” she found the speech.

“I thought it was really smart, wise and appropriate for the president to lay out the threats as we move forward,” Etienne said.

Washington Post deputy editor Mary Jordan told ABC News she was excited, calling the speech “memorable” and “blunt.”

“By far one of the most memorable speeches he gave because Joe Biden really struggled with the narrative,” Jordan said. “And Donald Trump basically told the whole story.”

She added: “Tonight I thought he was blunt and unusually clear.”

Meet the Press host Kristen Welker told NBC host Lester Holt, “I think that was a speech for the history books, Lester.”

MSNBC host Rachel Maddow focused primarily on the parts of Biden’s speech in which he warned of a tech “oligarchy” threatening the country and raised concerns about the free press following the removal of fact-checkers.

“It’s simple and matter-of-fact, and like I said, it sent a chill down my spine,” Maddow said. “I think he’s right and I’m glad he took the time to say it.”

Joy Reid agreed that Biden’s comments “needed to be spoken out” and was glad they did, too.

Conservatives were largely frustrated with the speech, calling it the “worst farewell speech in presidential history” because of its dire warning about the “ultra-rich.”

“I would like to warn the country about some things that worry me greatly. … This is a dangerous concentration of power in the hands of a few super-rich people. “The dangerous consequences if their abuse of power goes unchecked,” Biden said.

“Today, an oligarchy of extreme wealth, power and influence is taking shape in America that literally threatens our entire democracy. Our fundamental rights, freedoms and a fair chance for everyone to move forward,” he continued.

Biden will officially leave the White House on January 20, when President-elect Donald Trump is sworn in as the 47th president. He ends a political career that has spanned more than fifty years.
