Light snow and fog will make travel difficult this evening

A strong arctic gust will drop temperatures into the teens overnight, and this colder air will also bring us fog and light snow over the next ten hours. A winter weather advisory remains in effect for the Far Eastern Plains until 8 a.m. Sunday morning. Up to three inches of snow is possible across Kit Carson, Cheyenne, Prowers and Bent counties Sunday. In addition to the light snowfall, icy drizzle overnight will also make the roads slippery.

In Colorado Springs, overnight snowfall totals will generally be less than an inch, and whatever snow does fall will be over by daybreak Sunday. Patchy fog will form overnight, reducing visibility.

Sunday will be cool and windy, especially in the mountains. Driving in this direction, blowing snow in the highlands may slow travel. So be careful while driving. The sun will return along the Front Range, but temperatures will remain near freezing and winds will be strong from the northwest, so dress warmly!

The chilly weather will continue for the rest of the week, with another round of snow showers Monday evening and Tuesday. Daytime temperatures range from high 30s to low 40s, which is very typical for January.
