Lily-Rose Depp glams up 90s-style sheer dressing at the “Nosferatu” premiere

Chanel may have just appointed a new creative director in former Bottega Veneta designer Matthieu Blazy, but Lily-Rose Depp is happy to focus on the brand’s illustrious archives for her latest red carpet number. Last night, the actress looked angelic in Karl Lagerfeld-era couture at the premiere of her historical horror film in Los Angeles. Nosferatu.

Depp hit the red carpet in a pewter gray look straight from Lagerfeld’s Chanel Couture runway in fall 1995. Her outfit featured two layers. Over this, Depp wore a sheer, floor-length cape embroidered with dozens of subtle sequins and baubles. Below, she wore a cloudy spaghetti strap dress that shimmered elegantly on the black carpet. Depp’s explorations of sheer fabrics are usually extremely daring – but this subtle sheer moment was pure vintage glamour.

Depp followed the red carpet and mingled with them Nosferatu Co-stars — including Emma Corrin, who was decked out in a gothic Miu Miu moment — and guests like Charli XCX at the official after-party. She removed the sheer overlay from her look, further emphasizing her beauty and her choice of accessories for the evening: a braided hairstyle framed by dainty silver Chanel earrings.

Depp is a Chanel muse through and through (her mother, Vanessa Paradis, was a close friend and inspiration of Lagerfeld) and apparently jealously has extensive access to the French house’s archives. She’s no stranger to slipping into notable pieces from the brand’s past, with a particular focus on Lagerfeld’s work, both on and off the red carpet. Last month, she attended her friend 070Shake’s Los Angeles concert in a drop-waist Chanel dress that Paradis wore on the red carpet in 2003.

While Nosferatu In the press alone, she wore a Victorian-style skirt set and an elegant bow-trimmed dress to the 2024 Governors Awards. Considering both pieces are from Chanel’s 2020 and 2018 couture seasons, respectively, it looks like Depp saved her most impressive (and oldest) vintage find for last night’s premiere.
