Tony Award-winning actress and singer Linda Lavin, best known for her role on the TV sitcom “Alice,” died unexpectedly Sunday from complications of recently discovered lung cancer, Michael Gagliardo, a representative for Lavin, confirmed , told USA TODAY. She was 87.

Lavin leaves behind “the love of her life,” Steve Bakunas, Gagliardo added.
