Following the season two finale lioness“Zoe Saldaña offered what some see as the first taste of a possible third season.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, Saldaña revealed that she “Signed up for three seasons” when she was first cast, meaning it’s safe to assume a third season is on the cards, even if it hasn’t been announced yet:

“I wish it was the fact that I had space in my life (laughs). I signed up for at least three seasons, so you have to fulfill some kind of contractual obligation, but ‘Lioness’ is not just that.” “Lioness” was a journey that gave me the opportunity to work with a different kind of filmmaker. Taylor Sheridan is kind of this cowboy who lives off the grid, and that makes a lot of us curious to get the cadence of his writing and the topics he always wants to talk about, or not.”

She didn’t comment further or give any indication as to when fans might see another episode, but given the popularity of both creators Taylor Sheridan – who’s best known for his episodes – it’s safe to assume Yellowstone Universe (whose epic Season 5 finale is imminent) – as well as this lioness series itself.

In the series, Saldaña is joined by other A-listers including Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman and more, Joe – a CIA agent hired as one of the series’ titular lionesses.

When will Lioness Season 3 be released?

With no lioness Since the third season announcement has not yet been made public, an exact date for the series’ return will be top of mind for many.

Judging by Saldaña’s comments, a third season seems all but guaranteed, as the cast appears to be committed to at least three seasons. This means that an official confirmation of further episodes is only a matter of time.

Season 2 was first announced several months after the end of Season 1 and was greenlit in May 2024, almost a year after the Season 1 finale in August 2023.

However, this delayed announcement was likely due to the actors and writers’ strikes that were ongoing at the time.

With that in mind, confirmation for Season 3 will likely come sooner than Season 2, potentially leading to a quicker turnaround time for the eventual release.

Only six months passed between the announcement and the release of the second season. So if Season 3 were announced sometime in early 2025, a release before the end of the year wouldn’t be too surprising.

With viewership of the series still high and Season 2 considered one of Paramount+’s biggest original titles of all time, it’s safe to assume the studio won’t be running to get more of it lioness from fans.

lioness Season 2 is now streaming on Paramount+.
