4th quarter

Lions 34, Packers 31, final: One last bold decision from Dan Campbell: he went for a 4th-and-1 from the Green Bay 21 with 43 seconds left. Jared Goff completed the handoff while falling and David Montgomery provided the conversion. That made Jake Bates’ game-winning 35-yard field goal as time expired to give the Lions a thrilling win.

3:38: After four lead changes in the half, we are now tied with three minutes left after the Packers get to the Lions’ 7-yard line, but Detroit holds on from there and forces a field goal. Lions 31, Packers 31

8:39: For the second time this half, the Lions answer a Packers touchdown with a touchdown of their own and take back the lead. Jared Goff completed three passes of 10 yards or more, then Tim Patrick caught his second touchdown of the game. Lions 31, Packers 28

2:20 p.m.: The Packers took the lead again after two plays in the fourth quarter. After the Lions’ failed conversion, they only had to cover 30 yards. Packers 28, Lions 24

3rd quarter

1:22: After converting three consecutive fourth-down attempts, Dan Campbell tries from within his team’s own 31-point mark and comes up short. The Packers only have a short field left to retake the lead. Lions 24, Packers 21

3:22: The Lions regained momentum and forced a three-and-out from the Packers thanks to good third-down pass coverage from Terrion Arnold. Lions 24, Packers 21

5:02: For the second time in the game, Dan Campbell went on 4th-and-goal and scored with a pass, this time to Tim Patrick from three yards out, who quelled the Packers’ momentum with an important 13-play, 70-yard drive . Lions 24, Packers 21

11:15: The Packers needed just three plays to score after the interception and score their second touchdown in under four minutes to open the half and take their first lead of the day. Packers 21, Lions 17

12:21: Jared Goff is intercepted in his own end on a throw over the middle and the Packers only have 16 yards to release the ball. Lions 17, Packers 14

1:15 p.m.: After racking up 31 passing yards in the first half, Jordan Love completed a 59-yard pass to Christian Watson on the second play of the second half after wideout Carlton Davis III was burned. Three plays later, he threw a touchdown to Tucker Kraft. Lions 17, Packers 14

2nd quarter

0:11: Dan Campbell takes a chance and tries a 4th-and-goal from the 2-yard line and it pays off with a two-yard touchdown pass to Jahmyr Gibbs. The Lions finished the half with 70-plus yard touchdown drives and entered halftime with a double-digit lead. Lions 17, Packers 7

5:35: The Packers covered 70 yards to get on the field, helped by a pair of long runs by Josh Jacobs and three Lions penalties, most notably a pass interference by Terrion Arnold in the end zone to set up the touchdown. Lions 10, Packers 7

13:01: The Lions took advantage of a short field and a personal foul on the Packers to get into field goal range, and Jake Bates hit it from 43 yards, extending the Lions’ lead to 10. Lions 10, Packers 0

2:50 p.m.: The Lions start the second quarter with a takeaway: After a 21-yard completion from Jordan Love to Christian Watson, David Long forces a fumble and recovers it. Lions 7, Packers 0

1st quarter

0:35: After another short drive, the Lions punt from their own 23. Jahmyr Gibbs couldn’t get much going; He had 11 yards on six carries and carried the final three plays of that drive. Lions 7, Packers 0

3:50: This Lions patchwork defense leaves nothing to be desired. The unit comes back on the field after a short break and forces a three-and-out with good third-down pressure on Jordan Love. However, the Lions are stuck at their own 10 again. Lions 7, Packers 0

4:41: The Lions’ second offensive attack is short: two short runs by Jahmyr Gibbs and then a sack by former Michigan star Rashan Gary force Detroit to punt from their own end zone. The Packers are regaining near midfield. Lions 7, Packers 0

6:38: The good news is that the Lions allowed a first down (due to a Brian Branch penalty) before forcing the Packers to punt near midfield on their first drive of the game. The bad news is that Alim McNeill went to the medical tent during the trip. He is being evaluated for a concussion. Lions 7, Packers 0

9:41: The Lions march down the field thanks to a 28-yard pass over the middle to Jameson Williams and a nice 13-yard run from David Montgomery. They survive a red zone holding penalty by Dan Skipper and get on the field with a 3-yard run by David Montgomery. Lions 7, Packers 0

Foreplay: The only surprise heading into the game is that cornerback Emmanuel Moseley is inactive for the second week in a row. He has been training intensively for weeks since returning from a torn pectoral muscle in preseason, but appears to be the underdog in a defensive game.

For the second year in a row, there will be Thursday Night Football in Detroit. And this week the evening could end with the Lions playoffs.

The Lions (11-1) face the Packers (9-3) at 8:15 p.m. on Amazon Prime.

If the Lions win, they will become the first NFC team to clinch a playoff spot and extend their winning streak to a franchise record 11 games.

If they lose, they can still secure a spot in the playoffs by Sunday. However, they were also in danger of losing their narrow lead in the competitive NFC North.

The Packers have a three-game winning streak and playoff aspirations of their own.

We will be posting updates on this page throughout the evening.
