It’s a new year and a new month, but when are the holidays and events in January? Here you will find the dates you should pay attention to this month, including National Day of Mourning.

According to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), there are a total of 12 federal holidays over 11 days in 2025, and 3 of those holidays fall in January.

Not included in the list is the national day of mourning following the death of former President Jimmy Carter, which Joe Biden declared for Jan. 9, prompting organizations to close on that day.
