LIV Golf announces Scott O’Neil as the league’s new CEO

LONDON, NEW YORK and West Palm Beach, Florida. – LIV Golf has named Scott O’Neil as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. O’Neil will drive the strategic vision, operations and global growth of the league, its 13 teams and roster of world-class golfers, as well as its efforts to create positive impact. Greg Norman, who was instrumental in the founding of LIV Golf as its first CEO and commissioner, will step down from day-to-day management but will remain involved with LIV Golf.

O’Neil’s appointment represents the reach of LIV Golf’s early success and positions the league for the next phase of sustained growth as it continues to focus on modernizing and elevating the sport with a unique team competition and experience for the next generation of golf fans around the world.

Prior to being named CEO of LIV Golf, O’Neil was CEO of Merlin Entertainments, responsible for overseeing the operations and global growth of its over 140 attractions in 23 countries. Prior to Merlin, O’Neil was CEO of Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE), a portfolio of professional sports, entertainment and investment properties, where he oversaw more than $2 billion in shareholder value growth focused on innovation concentrated in the industry.

O’Neil has more than 25 years of experience leading and managing global sports and entertainment brands. With his reputation for innovation, strategic and global brand development and partnerships, and a passion for culture and talent development, O’Neil has led some of the sports and entertainment industry’s most recognized and iconic brands and properties, including the New York Knicks and the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers, the The NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles, the NHL’s New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils, and the internationally renowned sports and entertainment arenas Madison Square Garden and Prudential Center.

Appointed LIV Golf’s first CEO and Commissioner in October 2021, Greg Norman was a pioneer who paved the way for its significant growth and success during his three years leading the world’s first global golf league, including establishing its groundbreaking team – and competition format rosters of the world’s best golfers and connections to many of the best golf courses in the world.
