Live early signing updates for 2025 commits and team rankings

It’s time for the early signing period, when most of the country’s top college football recruits put pen to paper and sign with their school for the foreseeable future.

The signing period may signal hope for programs coming off a difficult season. It can also indicate the beginning of the next dynasty to emerge.

The three-day signing period runs from Wednesday, December 4th through Friday, December 6th, allowing high school recruits to sign earlier than ever before in the NCAA calendar. Most recruits in recent years have signed during this three-day period, although national signing day is February 5th.

This year’s early commitment deadline has been moved forward by two weeks so that the incoming freshman classes will be served before the transfer portal opens on December 9th. The early signing period started on December 20th last season and on December 21st in 2022. At the same time as the transfers, they went through their own recruitment processes.

Many of college football’s – and the NFL’s, for that matter – future stars are likely to sign on Wednesday and enroll at their respective schools early in the spring semester to allow more time to prepare for the 2025 season.

Auburn signs 5-star QB Deuce Knight

Auburn signs its quarterback of the future while left-hander Deuce Knight signs with the Tigers.

Knight, a 5-star prospect who is the No. 29 recruit nationally and the No. 4 quarterback out of Lucedale, Mississippi, is a big win for coach Hugh Freeze and company.

No. 1 QB Keelon Russell heading to Tuscaloosa

Five-star quarterback Keelon Russell from Duncanville, Texas, signed with Alabama, becoming the top-ranked quarterback in his class.

Following the expected departure of Jalen Milroe to the NFL Draft, Russell will likely compete for a starting spot next season.

4-star TE Linkon Cure is staying at Kansas State

4-star tight end Linkon Cure signs with Kansas State after fending off a late push from Oregon. The second-ranked tight end in the class hails from nearby Goodland, Kansas, and will remain with the state program.

Huge win for Kansas State, which signs its highest-ranked recruit in program history.

Texas moves on 4-star CB Kade Phillips

Kade Phillips, the No. 7 cornerback in his class, reneged on his LSU commitment on Tuesday night and committed to Texas before signing with the Longhorns on Wednesday.

Texas has had a big day in the early signings so far.

Georgia Tech is signing one of the best recruits of all time

Brent Key turned in his best performance ever at Georgia as four-star safety Tae Harris signed with the Yellow Jackets.

The 4-star safety with the No. 3 pick is the third-highest signee of all time at Georgia Tech, behind Calvin Johnson and Hobie Holiday.

Texas A&M signs 5-star receiver Jerome Myles

Jerome Myles, the fifth-ranked receiver in his class, announces his commitment to Texas A&M and signs with the Aggies. He was previously committed to USC but reneged on his pledge on December 1st.

Huge win for the Aggies.

Michael Terry II signs with Texas

Michael Terry II, a four-star prospect who is considered the top athlete in his class, commits and signs with Texas after going into signing day non-committal.

Terry II chose the Longhorns over Nebraska and Oregon.

Ole Miss successfully passes former Alabama commit WR

Ole Miss signs Caleb Cunningham, the second-ranked receiver and 5-star recruit who previously committed to Alabama. Cunningham was traded from the Crimson Tide to the Rebels on November 13th, marking a big win for Coach Lane Kiffin.

Texas signs 5-star trio

Texas got off to a strong start Wednesday, securing three of its top-ranked recruits: No. 1 safety Jonah Williams, No. 4 receiver Kaliq Lockett and No. 4 defensive lineman Landon Jackson, all of whom are five-stars.

The Longhorns are expected to sign one of the top classes of the 2025 cycle.

Ohio State signs the quarterback of the future

Ohio State is signing 5-star quarterback Tavien St. Clair, the No. 7 player overall and No. 3 quarterback in the class, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Ohio State also signed sixth overall prospect Devin Sanchez, the No. 1 cornerback in the class.

St. Clair joins Julian Sayin as 5-star quarterbacks on the Buckeyes’ roster.
