Live: Local authorities, doctor’s offices, businesses close due to winter storm | Complete list

In addition to the closure of several school districts in metro Atlanta and North Georgia on Friday due to expected snow and ice, local government offices as well as some churches, medical offices, businesses and organizations are also opting to close.

All of North Georgia and parts of Central Georgia will be under a ban Winter Storm Watch starts on Friday and lasts until Saturday. A watch indicates heavy snow, sleet or freezing rain is possible and Georgians are advised to prepare for possible power outages and dangerous road conditions.

On Friday morning, the City of Atlanta, Cobb County Government, Walton County Government and the DeKalb County Board of Health announced closures.

Cobb County Presiding Judge Gregory Poole ordered the courthouse closed Friday, with normal court operations expected to resume Monday morning. The only exception is the Cobb Magistrate Court, which maintains 24-hour operations.
