Liverpool expected to progress against Leicester despite adverse weather – Liverpool FC

Liverpool’s Boxing Day clash against Leicester is expected to go ahead as planned despite Merseyside being blanketed by foggy weather.

The Merseyside region was shrouded in fog throughout Boxing Day, resulting in Tranmere’s League Two clash with Accrington Stanley being postponed.

The game at Prenton Park (6.5 miles from Anfield) was due to start at 3pm but was canceled shortly after 2pm as the pitch was barely visible from the stands.

There are therefore fears that the Reds could have a game canceled due to adverse weather conditions for the second time this season.

But it looks like the 8pm kick-off at Anfield will go ahead as planned – avoiding any serious match problems.

Contrary to suggestions on social media that an inspection of the ground would take place at 4pm, James Pearce and Athletic player James Pearce and the echoPaul Gorst has reported that this was not the case.

With Liverpool still having to find time to rearrange their meeting with Everton, which was canceled due to Storm Darragh earlier this month, further postponement would only cause more chaos.

Arne Slot’s team hardly has a break in their schedule as, in addition to their successes in the Champions League, they also qualified for the semi-finals of the League Cup.

The earliest replacement midweek for the Reds is January 1st and the next one isn’t until January 10th/11th. and 18/19. February, when the Champions League playoff round takes place, the slots team is expected to avoid.

Ahead of the game, Liverpool urged fans to leave early because of the fog and to be careful in the adverse conditions.
